The History of our Hotel.
·         The original hotel was opened as the Exchange Hotel in December 1857.
·         In the same year, the hotel became the base for those who oppose the political views of Capt John Hart, a prominent identity who successfully campaigned to become a member of the House of Assembly and went on to become Premier of South Australia three times.
·         In February 1882 the hotel`s name was changed to the "New Exchange Hotel" and advertised a range of services and facilities for visitors including "horses and traps for hire". In 1935 the widening of McLaren wharf causes the demolition of the first hotel.
·         In recent times the hotel has changed its name three times. In April 1986 it was named the Lighthouse Inn, in 2004 it was renamed Ales & Sails, and finally in 2009 it is now called The Lighthouse Hotel.
